As a major player in the archipelago’s tourism sector, Guadeloupe Port Caraïbes first positions itself as the primary logistical platform supporting the local economy. It facilitates energy supply, imports raw materials, and also facilitates the export of Guadeloupe’s productions.
The Grand Port Maritime de Guadeloupe, known as ‘Guadeloupe Port Caraïbes,’ is a French public institution. Its mission is to ensure:
– Management of port facilities and maritime access to the ports within its jurisdiction
– Management and development of the land domain
– Reconstruction, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure while ensuring environmental preservation.
The non-EU partner
Representing over 100 members and national associations, the Caribbean Shipping Association is the decisive authority for maritime affairs in the Caribbean. It was established to give a voice to regional maritime interests and facilitate the exchange of information.
It currently brings together the most influential stakeholders in the port sector. The CSA network includes entities such as port authorities, terminal operators, shipping companies, and towing companies.
The financial partner
INTERREG Caribbean is a European program aimed at strengthening cooperation between European territories (Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, and Saint-Martin) and Caribbean territories and states. This partnership program aims to enhance the integration of French overseas territories into their regional space and establish a partnership strategy between different Caribbean territories. Areas of cooperation include employment and innovation, natural and cultural environment, public health, renewable energy, human capital strengthening, and natural risks.
The CariPorts project fully aligns with this approach to Caribbean cooperation, aiming to establish a common strategy to address natural risks exacerbated by climate change.
