Actions Implemented in Ports

As a reminder, the implementation of the CariPorts’ project requires collaboration with Caribbean ports interested in the initiative. Indeed, Site visits were conducted at Rio Haina Port (Dominican Republic), Barbados Port Inc. (Barbados), the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, and Kingston Wharves Limited (Jamaica). The CariPorts team conducted these visits with the aim of sharing experiences and providing ports the opportunity to learn more about their neighboring ports, exchanging knowledge, expertise, and experiences, particularly in environmental preservation and combating climate change.

These visits include exploring the terminals and port infrastructures of each port, followed by a discussion with each port’s teams. This exchange is structured around a specifically designed questionnaire to guide discussions and identify differences and commonalities between ports in terms of environmental, technical, and structural aspects.

The collection of crucial data from each visited port aims to propose a common port development model for Caribbean ports through a roadmap and an operational action plan that each port can implement.”
